Christians read the Bible to know and love God more, but we also read it for instruction for living well - as God wills. When we read it and act on what we read - like by caring for the orphan and the widow, or feeding the hungry, or daily confessing and turning from sin - then we are training ourselves to live a life of obedience to our loving God.

I'm a big believer in whole-person wellness. I think the physical aspects of health are just as important as the mental, emotional, and spiritual ones. And I believe that all of them interconnect and overlap in many different ways.

What we need is friends and loved ones around us who will be there. People who will pray and help as we struggle and then commit to caring for us when what and who we are is finally revealed.

When we care for people, we abandon ego to help them. We desire to see them succeed, to come to their fullest potential. We don't want them to stay the same because we believe in their ability to become exactly who they were created to be. 

This is a delicate lesson that my husband has helped me learn.
